A community-driven platform dedicated to collecting data about sharks.
Explore the Global Shark Attack File (GSAF), a spreadsheet containing information about more than 7500 shark interactions which date from as early as year 1550. You'll find interesting information such as when and where the attack ocurred, what was the person doing in the moment, which species was involved and much more.
I've had an unexplainable love for sharks and marine life for as long as I can remember. But, unfortunately, I live more than a day's drive away from the closest sea and even further from the nearest ocean. That, however, doesn't mean that I can't help with understanding and protecting these amazing animals.
This is the first step towards a platform that will allow us to get a glimpse into the world of these mysterious creatures and learn more about them. I've only added 35 species so far, and the data has a bunch of holes, but with some help from the community, I believe we'll have an incredible dataset with a bunch of (actually) interesting info :D
The idea behind the project is for it to be community-driven and I'm more than happy to include anyone willing to add in new species, report interactions or even recommend a good movie or video game that is missing in the list. If that sounds like something you could do, feel free to shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or reach out via social media.
